Prayer Changes Things: NO Mean Not Over

Stand Still and See the Salvation of the Lord- Let Jesus Lead

Edith Season 1 Episode 9

"Stand Still and See the Salvation of the Lord" is a powerful reminder to trust in God's deliverance and timing, especially when facing difficult or seemingly impossible situations. This phrase echoes throughout Scripture as a call to stop striving, cease from anxiety, and rely fully on God's sovereignty and power to bring victory.

This passage occurs during the Israelites' escape from Egypt when they found themselves trapped between the Red Sea and Pharaoh's army. Moses encourages them to trust in God's intervention. They were to stand still, not out of passivity, but in confident expectation of God’s deliverance. This is a picture of God's power to fight on our behalf when we trust Him fully.
2 Chronicles 20:17 (KJV)
“Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you.

In the face of challenges, this passage reminds us that if God is on our side, no opposition can stand against us. The greatest act of salvation—the giving of Jesus Christ—assures us that God will also give us everything we need for victory in our circumstances.
1 Corinthians 15:57 (KJV)
“But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

The ultimate victory is ours through Christ. God’s salvation, which we stand still to see, is realized in the finished work of Jesus on the cross. Through Him, we are given victory over sin, death, and any challenges that come our way.

The phrase "Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord" emphasizes faith in God's active role in our lives. It speaks to moments when we are facing overwhelming odds or insurmountable challenges, and we are called not to panic or strive in our own strength, but to trust in God's intervention. It is a call to pause, reflect, and wait with expectancy for God’s deliverance.

Whether it’s standing before an army, facing the Red Sea, or enduring personal trials, God calls His people to stop and look to Him. Victory is not achieved through human effort alone, but through God's powerful intervention. We can stand still because we know that the battle is the Lord’s, and He will not fail us.

In times of hardship or uncertainty, remember that God is fighting on your behalf. As you "stand still," know that He will provide what is needed for your victory. Trust in His promises, knowing that He who gave His Son for you will certainly give you everything you need for life and godliness. Your victory is secured in Christ, and you will see His salvation manifested in your life as you wait in faith.
